City of Mount Vernon Police Support Staff join Teamsters!

Employees at the City of Mount Vernon Police Station first reached out to Teamsters in the Fall of 2025, wanting to transition from their Guild to Teamsters representation. While working collaboratively with the Guild and the hard work of the Organizing Committee, Teamsters Local 231 were able to file a Petition for Representation with the Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) on November 7, 2025. Through a Card Check process, PERC was able to determine that Teamsters had majority of employees supporting the change. On February 9, 2026, PERC officially Certified the Petition for the non-commissioned employees at the City of Mount Vernon Police Station. Teamsters Local 231 looks forward to bargaining a strong first contract for these employees and giving them the representation they deserve!
